Website Manager at Alce su Voz
Alec Schon is an undergraduate student majoring in Computational Linguistics at Wichita State University. Alec’s academic pursuits focus on the intersection of language access and technology, particularly in using computer technologies to support access to minority languages. He has worked on multiple projects in web development and has received two awards for his work in service.
I believe computer literacy is essential to modern language accessibility. It’s my life goal to make digital resources available to speakers of underrepresented languages. If we want to protect linguistic accessibility into the future, language revitalization projects must focus on inclusive access to online platforms and electronic resources that support these languages in the digital age.
Outside of his academic work, Alec is passionate about urbanism, environmental sustainability, and open access to information. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, camping, urban nightlife, learning new instruments, and making his own clothes.
