My research is grounded in the values of critical community psychology, driven by a commitment to challenge systems of oppression (e.g., neocolonialism, structural racism, heteropatriarchy) and advance health equity for marginalized communities. I focus on dismantling barriers to healthcare access, particularly for Spanish-speaking populations, and addressing the public health needs of the Latinx community. A key area of my work explores Latino men’s experiences with loneliness and substance use, aiming to inform culturally responsive interventions. Additionally, my research continues to examine how men’s gendered socialization is linked to various social and public health issues (e.g., intimate partner violence), with the goal of shaping policies and programs that promote healthier, more equitable outcomes.
